To make almond milk, you will need the following ingredients and equipment:
Ingredients:
1 cup raw almonds
4 cups water
Sweetener of your choice
Equipment:
Blender
Cheesecloth
Large bowl
Instructions:
Soak the almonds: Place the almonds in a bowl and cover with water. Let them soak for at least 4 hours or overnight.
Drain and rinse: Drain the soaked almonds and rinse them with fresh water.
Blend the almonds and water: Put the almonds and 4 cups of water in a blender and blend on high speed for about 2 minutes, until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
Strain the milk: Place a nut milk bag or cheesecloth over a large bowl and pour the almond mixture into the bag/cloth. Squeeze the bag/cloth to extract as much liquid as possible. You can also use a fine mesh strainer instead of a nut milk bag.
Sweeten : If you want to sweeten your almond milk, you can add your preferred sweetener ( like maple syrup) and blend again for a few seconds.
Store and enjoy: Pour the almond milk into a jar or bottle and store it in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. Give it a good shake before using it. Enjoy your homemade almond milk in smoothies, coffee, or with your cereal.
