ANSWERS TO COMMON QUESTIONS

Can we come to stay without doing classes ?
Unfortunately no ! Our lodging is exclusively booked for our students.
Are classes in English ?
Yes, classes are exclusively in English.
How many students can you take ?
As we do exclusive classes, we can take a maximum of 4 students at a time for the pastry, cuisine and chocolate class. For the vegan cheese and wine, the catering class and the permaculture class , we can welcome 6 students.
Are classes for future professionals only
Our classes are constructed to help students acquire a chef’s mentality and savoir-faire. This goal is also perfect for somone simply passionate about quality vegan cuisine. The only class that is exclusively aimed at future professionals is the catering class.
Class days and hours
Classes are held from Monday to Friday, from 9 am to 5pm, with a 45 minute break for lunch. Students and teachers will also have private sessions when needed to help further each student’s project.
What leisure activities are available on site
At all times during the year the Domaine’s garden and brook and the surrounding villages, provide hours of leisurely walks as well as hiking and biking possibilities. Four bicycles are available for students. A high-end treadmill, yoga mats and weights are also available for use. Students accomodations all have televisions.
What is included in the full program fees
All your courses, ingredients, materials, aprons and jackets, accommodation, meals and snacks, laundry use, transportation from local train station to the school and professional side trips are included.
What should students wear and bring to class
We provide both your chef’s jacket and apron. Ideally students will bring black pants and closed kitchen shoes. Students wear their hair attached during class. We permit use of phones to make both photos and videos as long as class is not interrupted too often interrupted. Students love to share photos and we are very proud to share our students progress also.
Certificates and diplomas
All students completing their program recieve a certificate and those completing the full pastry or culinary program recieve a Gentle Gourmet France diploma. No vegan diploma is yet recognized by the French government but the value of our diploma rests on our long-standing reputation around the world as vegan culinary pioneers.
How do students sign up?
Students need to contact us first by mail, where we will set up a friendly chat to see how best we can help you in your culinary education. Once you have decided both the program and the type of accomodation you wish, you simply pay online the down payment of 30% to hold your place. The final payment is due three weeks before the start of class. Any optional side trips that we occasionally offer can be paid after class has begun. and you have settled in.
What optional side trips are offered
During their stay, day trips will be proposed to the seaside towns of Honfleur, Trouville/Deauville, Monet’s home in Giverny, the Chateau de Champs de Bataille and the city of Rouen as well as to local food festivals.
Do students need a visa
Students staying more than three months must apply for a visa. Generally students staying less than three months can come as a tourist. It is best to contact the French consulate in your country for specific details.
